ABOUT THE STORY
Whether at the beginning of the school day or at community events, for generations of Virgin Islanders singing the "Virgin Islands March" has been a ritual that brings the people of the Territory together as one.
Take a visual journey through the inspiring lyrics, as seen through the eyes of twenty-one young Virgin Islands artists, who have created a mosaic of light and color, presenting this symbol of Virgin Islands unity and pride as it has never been done before.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Cecile Rene Galiber de Jongh was raised on St. Croix, USVI and attended Marquette University where she earned a BS degree in Business Administration and Marketing. As part of her commitment to improving literacy in the Virgin Islands, Cecile serves as the spokesperson for the Territory's Big Read Initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the VI Humanities Council and is Chairperson for the Children and Families Council, an Initiative to Improce the standard and quality of government services to ensure children's school readiness, especially regarding health, education, safety, and overall livelihood. Cecile is a board member of the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce as well as Antilles School and, in 2007, she was honored as the Rotary Person of the Year.
